Joe Styczynski

My interest in 3D modeling and design software started at a young age. At 14, I started learning design software from my older siblings who also have a shared interest in teaching, art and design. After high school, I studied architecture at the University of Detroit and graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Architecture. After university, I worked at a design-build prototyping company in Detroit making 3D models and shop drawings using the same software and methods I apply to my work at Polyform.

I have also lived in China for four years. I first taught English to children and young adults in the small city of Zhaoqing. In December of 2017, I moved to Shenzhen to teach art and design to high school students who were aspiring to go to a university in the west. This experience changed my life dramatically. Professionally speaking though, teaching art and design to high schoolers sharpened my knowledge of design software and also enabled me to continue my practice of speaking Chinese Mandarin. I later came home in a dramatic fashion in February of 2020 because of the COVID pandemic. I then started Polyform later in the summer of 2020 and moved to Austin, TX in July of 2021 to expand Polyforms presence in the design and construction industry there.
